So, how does it work?

Let’s say you were born on November 12, 1940. First, reduce the birthdate to numbers. November is the eleventh month; therefore the birthdate is written: 11-12-1940. Next, reduce the year to a double digit by adding the year through once: 1+9+4+0=14.  Now we total the birthdate once more:

11+12+1940

11+12+14 (1+9+4+0)

11+12+14=37 (3+7=10. 10 is reduced to a single digit – 1)
