“It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.” ~ Buddha
Trudy Harris, retired Hospice nurse, and author “Gllimpses of Heaven” and “More Glimpses of Heaven” spoke to our listeners on JOY Radio: People Inspiring People 7.6.11 about what happens when we pass from life to death. She shared heart-warming stories of the final days and moments of terminally ill and dying people. She mentioned that no one dies alone and that each of us choose how we want to die, citing experiences from young to old.
Have you had the pleasure of experiencing the passing of a loved one? Did they go peacefully? What were some of their final words? Did they mention someone was present to take them home? Would love to hear your input.

Missing and reflecting on my Pop, my teacher, my hero, my friend today- his 87th.
July 4, 2011
Quoting him, 1986. Looking back, Charlie expressed gratitude for his life. “I
am a very lucky man. I have neat and hardworking children (7) and soon, 20
grandchildren, work I love, and a wonderful life. My friendships are especially
important to me. For a time I fumbled the ball, but they have given me a second
chance and I am grateful. Every day is full of adventure now. And I really don’t
need more than that.”
Happy Birthday, Pop. Miss you. Bet you are lighting the heavens on fire! And don’t worry about me, Pop. I’m never, never, never going to quit! Guess I’m a chop off the old block. Love your Bird-dog, Pattie
PS Would love to hear you sing one last time, “Thank Heaven for Little Girls.”
Dear Mr. Hallmark, Sir:
I am writing to you from heaven,
And though it must appear
A rather strange idea,
I see everything from here.
I just popped in to visit
Your store to find a card-
A card of love for my Mom,
As this day for her is hard. Continue reading »
Miss you, Bo Bo. Wish I could be with you on your special day. Holding you in my heart!
Hope you finally got your balloons. The wind drove the first round into a tall oak tree in the back yard, and there they remain as a reminder of your 30th. The second round dodged the trees, moved into open space, and sailed all the way to heaven.
Give hugs to the family and everyone else in heaven for me. So glad they are with you to make your day extra-ordinary… just like you.
Remember this Bo Bo, I have never stopped loving you. You’re my angel!
Love you forever and always,
Your Mama
I read a beautiful story this morning on Guideposts Magazine’s website. I invite you to read this mother’s heartwarming words and story.
“How Will I Get to Heaven?”
When her five-year-old son wonders about how he will get to heaven, a mother assures him he will soon be able to fly with the heavenly angels.
If you stood in Katherine’s shoes, how would you bring light to your child’s unanswered questions? Where will I go after I die? How will I find heaven? How can I fly in heaven when I don’t know how to fly? What do I do when I miss you?
Seven years ago today, my son passed away, and my heart broke into a million pieces. Even though I know he is in a better place, I miss him dearly.
My daughter and I just released 7 colorful balloons, one for each year, for his party tonight in heaven. It has become our way of celebrating his beautiful gift of life on earth.
Would love to hear how you celebrate and honor the loss of your loved one.
